KB Kookmin Bank on Thursday released a social media campaign video titled “KB Kookmin Guardian, Park Ji-sun’s Voice Phishing Psychology” to help prevent voice phishing losses.

The video features Park Ji-sun, a professor of social psychology at Sookmyung Women’s University and a criminologist, along with announcer Park Sun-young, introducing recent cases of rapidly rising voice phishing damage.

It also analyzes, from a psychological perspective, how criminals stimulate and manipulate victims’ minds.

Major prevention methods from the Financial Supervisory Service, the National Police Agency and financial institutions are also introduced.

The video was produced in two parts. The first part covers recently surging voice phishing cases involving impersonation of card delivery services. The second part, to be released in mid-December, addresses various crimes that lure victims with attractive conditions, including refinancing loan scams impersonating financial institutions and high-return investment bait.

A KB Kookmin Bank official said the content was planned to raise awareness and help prevent voice phishing as the threat has recently grown. The official said the bank will continue to provide information to help customers prevent financial fraud on their own.
