Nota said on Thursday it signed a memorandum of understanding with Abu Dhabi's transport authority to jointly research and develop an on-device AI-based real-time incident management system and cooperative intelligent transport systems (C-ITS). The company said the Abu Dhabi agreement expands its presence in major UAE cities after it signed a commercialisation contract for an intelligent transport system with Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority last year.

The agreement is a follow-up to the successful completion of verification of Nota's ITS technology in Abu Dhabi last year. The company explained that discussions on introducing intelligent transport system solutions across Abu Dhabi, held at a Korea-UAE business roundtable set up during President Lee Jae-myung's UAE visit in November, also influenced the signing.

Nota said it recorded accuracy of at least 95 percent in detecting unexpected road incidents in Abu Dhabi last year. It said officials from Abu Dhabi's transport authority recognised its technological competitiveness. It said completing ITS technology verification and signing a localisation development agreement in the Middle East market, where barriers to adopting the technology are high, secured a foothold for entering the main project.

Nota and Abu Dhabi's transport authority agreed to cooperate on real-time automated incident management based on a vision-language model, one type of generative AI, combined with V2I communications technology. They also agreed to implement real-time traffic alerts and services to protect vulnerable road users using C-ITS infrastructure, as well as integrate systems at Abu Dhabi's traffic control centre and establish security governance.

"Nota Vision Agent" is an intelligent monitoring system optimised for on-device AI through Nota's hardware-aware AI optimisation platform, "Netspresso" technology.

Nota CEO Myungsoo Chae (채명수) said it was meaningful to form a strategic partnership with Abu Dhabi's transport authority following its contract with Dubai's transport authority. He said Nota AI's on-device optimisation technology will play a key role in improving the accuracy of Abu Dhabi's real-time traffic analysis and traffic forecasting.
