Pearl Abyss has completed development of its new title Crimson Desert and entered the final “gold master” stage.
Pearl Abyss announced the gold master milestone for Crimson Desert on its official website on Jan. 22. Gold master refers to the stage in which game development is complete and the master disc for the final version to be sold to consumers is confirmed. The term originates from master CDs once being gold-colored, and effectively means all technical preparations for release are finished.
With the gold master confirmed, Crimson Desert will launch simultaneously worldwide as scheduled on March 20, Korea time. Crimson Desert is an open-world action-adventure game developed using Pearl Abyss’ in-house next-generation engine, BlackSpace. It follows the journey of protagonist Kliff and his Grey Mane companions across the vast continent of Pywel.
Pearl Abyss said on its website, “We were able to reach this moment thanks to your unwavering interest and warm support,” and added, “We plan to bring you more news more often, and we will be waiting for you in Pywel on March 20.”
The game will be released across multiple platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and Apple Mac, and will also support cloud gaming via Nvidia GeForce Now. Pre-orders are currently available through the official website, and participants will receive limited rewards such as the “Khaled Shield.”
