[DigitalToday reporter Lee Ho-jung] The Daum portal operated by AXZ will carry out three major service updates, including a logo change, the introduction of real-time trends and an expansion of home-tab widgets.

On Tuesday, AXZ announced the changes through a notice posted the previous day, saying it aims to listen to users and reset standards true to Daum as it moves forward step by step.

Daum's logo will first revert from the existing monochrome user interface to a four-colour design symbolising variety. AXZ said it reflected feedback that users found the monochrome change unfamiliar, preserving past meaning while refining it to suit the present. It said it kept familiarity while making it clearer and more neat.

It will also begin a new beta service called Real-time Trends. The service combines technologies from Today Bubble and AI Issue Briefing. It aims to move beyond a simple focus on search volume and instead analyse a range of data, including news, search terms and web documents, to deliver the latest interests and information on daily life and safety in context. As a result, the existing AI Issue Briefing will end and its functions will be newly provided within Real-time Trends.

A new widget will be added to the home tab. In addition to existing weather, KOSPI, exchange rates and fortunes, it will add new widgets for sports broadcasts, community issues and Game on Daum so users can view, click and participate directly from the home screen.

A slot will also be added within the home feed to allow users to quickly check top news at the moment, live content and the stock market situation. It plans to gradually upgrade the feed so users can naturally check issues while scrolling and move directly to the content they need.

AXZ said it will create a home screen that is more intuitive and more personalised.
