Solum, an electronic components and power solutions company, said on Tuesday it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Pumpkin, a South Korean commercial EV charging company, for cooperation on EV charging infrastructure.

Pumpkin has aimed to apply 100 percent domestic technology across its chargers. It signed the MOU after highly rating Solum’s proprietary power module technology. It also plans to actively review expanding the application to all models in the future.

The two companies agreed to strengthen cooperation across charging infrastructure, including installing and jointly developing Solum’s in-house power modules in Pumpkin chargers; cooperation to commercialise an overseas commercial EV charging total solution that includes chargers, EVs and integrated control; cooperation on EV charging stations based on renewable energy such as energy storage systems and solar power; and joint planning and technology cooperation for new next-generation charger models.

Dong-gyun Yoo (유동균), vice president of Solum’s ANP business division, said cooperation with Pumpkin, a strong player in commercial vehicle charging, was an opportunity to prove Solum’s power electronics technology in the field. He said the company would leap into an EV charging solutions company recognised by global markets, beyond self-reliance in core parts technology.
