SK Telecom is moving to terminate contracts at its own discretion for 3G and LTE lines that have been in a long-term suspended status.
SKT has been sending text messages, letters and emails to some subscribers since the 10th, notifying them of the planned terminations. The move centers on terminating mobile service contracts that have remained suspended to this day after customers applied for temporary suspension before March 31, 2015.
It is the first time since March 2020 that SKT has cleared long-term suspended lines. SKT’s terms include a provision allowing contract termination if the suspension period has elapsed, for subscribers who applied for suspension before March 31, 2015.
The planned termination dates run from the 22nd to the 31st. SKT will terminate affected mobile service contracts in phases during this period. Subscribers who do not want termination can apply to lift the suspension by the 19th. After termination, it can be cancelled until 6 p.m. the same day. After that, subscribers must sign up again.
An SKT official said the company plans to terminate contracts for some lines that have been suspended for a long period to support number resource management and network operational stability. The official added that SKT will continue to do its best to provide stable services and improve customer convenience.
