Smilegate Hope Studio said on Tuesday it completed the “Road Nine Warmth Supply Quest,” a “Healing” activity to support vulnerable groups, together with NX3Games, the developer of “Road Nine.”
Healing is a service that links users to Hope Studio’s volunteer programmes and other social contribution activities.
The “Road Nine Warmth Supply Quest” was held on Feb. 27 in Namtaeryeong Jeonwon Village in Seoul’s Seocho district. The area, where aging housing is concentrated, has many elderly residents who receive basic living assistance.
A total of 41 NX3Games employees, including Road Nine producer Hyo-jae Kim (김효재), visited 10 beneficiary households and delivered 2,500 briquettes in person. The total number of briquettes supported through the volunteer activity is 11,111.
Kim said, “It was a very meaningful time to be able to deliver warmth to the elderly in person at the site with our employees.” He said, “Going forward, the Road Nine development team will continue activities that can provide practical help to underprivileged neighbours, putting the value of coexistence into practice both inside and outside the game.”
Smilegate Megaport, which handles publishing for Road Nine, raised donations for the volunteer activity from proceeds from sales of an in-game package called the “New Year Warmth Delivery Box.” The donation was delivered to the Bapsang Community Welfare Foundation and used to buy briquettes.
Yeon-joo Kwon (권연주), a director at Hope Studio, said, “This volunteer activity is meaningful in that it is a case in which the Road Nine developer, publisher and Hope Studio cooperated to put the value of sharing into practice.” She said, “Going forward, Hope Studio will become a social contribution platform where employees of various partner companies can participate easily and enjoyably and feel rewarded.”
