Global team communications company Sena Technology on Tuesday officially launched the single-ear mesh intercom headset Expand Mono (EXPAND Mono), which supports stable group communications while keeping users aware of surrounding sounds.

The product is designed to be worn on only one ear, allowing team communication while maintaining ambient sound in the field. It supports both open-mesh, which offers near-unlimited connections, and group mesh for up to 24 participants, securing communication and safety at the same time.

The core features are the company's proprietary Mesh Intercom 3.0 and Bluetooth 5.2. It connects directly between devices without a separate base station or smartphone network, providing a communications range of about 400 metres. A single button switches between group mesh and open-mesh modes.

It weighs only 100 grams. A slim profile, soft padding and a rounded arm design keep it securely in place even during intense movement. It minimises interference when wearing a safety helmet or glasses, and applies advanced noise control and an adjustable boom microphone to deliver clear voice even in noisy environments.

On a full charge, it supports up to 10 hours of continuous talk time, and a 20-minute fast charge allows up to 2 hours of use. It also supports wireless firmware updates and channel management through the dedicated Sena Outdoor app.

Wonhee Lee (이원희), head of Sena's product division and a PhD, said the product reflects a philosophy that "safety starts with what you can hear" and it will present a new team communications experience across industrial sites and leisure activities.
