[Digital Today reporter Jin-ho Lee] The Ministry of Science and ICT held a "Digital Learning Hub performance dissemination forum" on Tuesday at Seoul Citizen College's Southeast Campus.
The event reviewed 2025 operating results for the Digital Learning Hub and shared outstanding training cases. It also discussed this year’s direction for advancing the Digital Learning Hub project.
The ministry has provided AI and digital basic competency training through the Digital Learning Hub since 2020. A total of 4.33 million people have received training so far, counting cumulative attendance. In 2025, a total of 910,000 people received training.
To address blind spots in AI and digital education, the ministry provided AI and digital basic competency strengthening courses in 2025 through 37 Digital Learning Hub base centres across all 17 cities and provinces nationwide. It pushed dispatched training to 4,235 daily-life and welfare bases, including senior centres and welfare centres, in all 228 cities, counties and districts. Among all trainees, those aged 60 or older accounted for the largest share at 71.7 percent.
The ministry will add 32 base centres this year, increasing the total to 69 centres. It will announce the operational direction for the AI Digital Learning Hub within the first quarter after synthesising on-site feedback and discussions with relevant agencies.
Eom Yeol (엄열), director-general for information and communications policy at the ministry, said, "AI and digital literacy is a new language for understanding the AI era." He added, "The ministry will continue to work to improve AI literacy for all people, centred on the AI Digital Learning Hub."
