Krafton said on Tuesday it will expand its creative studios to a total of 19.
Krafton last year announced a mid- to long-term strategy to secure "big franchise IP" and has expanded investment in in-house production centered on new title development and talent recruitment. Over the past year it recruited 15 key production leaders and moved ahead with establishing new studios.
Creative studios established last year or set to be launched this year include NineB Studio, Omnicraft Labs, Runeshot Games and Olive Tree Games. Sung-hoon Kim (김성훈) was appointed head of NineB Studio, Jung-hwan Noh (노정환) of Omnicraft Labs, Hyung-wook Bae (배형욱) of Runeshot Games and Chang-myung Lee (이창명) of Olive Tree Games.
Krafton will operate small-organization development teams centered on new production leaders with experience developing hit titles, and push ahead with new games. New titles will be validated starting in markets with clearly defined core fan bases, and projects with proven results will be expanded in stages and developed into franchise IP.
Krafton currently operates a total of 26 new-title pipelines and is targeting the release of 12 titles over the next 2 years.
