South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT said on Tuesday it will announce from Jan. 22 the "Next-generation broadcast-media service platform leadership" project to help domestic broadcast and media companies enter overseas markets.

The project is a programme in which domestic small and mid-sized companies and global demand companies form a consortium and cooperate across the full process, from planning broadcast equipment and services to securing sales channels. The programme targets consortia of broadcast and media companies that combine AI and virtualisation (cloud) technologies. Up to 500 million won in project funding will be provided to 1 consortium selected in the final round. The consortium must consist of at least 2 domestic companies and a global partner.

Selected companies will receive tailored support across all stages, including making prototypes, developing commercial products and global demonstrations. They will also get opportunities to promote their technologies in overseas markets by taking part in international exhibitions such as the 2026 NAB Show, the world's largest broadcast equipment exhibition to be held in the United States in April.

The ministry said domestic companies including Digicap, Maru ENG and Deep Logic Chain achieved results last year through the project by signing supply contracts worth about 24 billion won with U.S. network operator Castanet5G (C5G).

Lee Hyun-ho (이현호), director general of the ministry's Radio Policy Bureau, said, "We will actively support domestic small companies so they can deliver tangible results in entering overseas markets through technology commercialisation together with global demand sources."
