[Digital Today reporter Jin-ho Lee (이진호)] Four commemorative stamps, the first of 2026, featuring images of baby animals will be released.

Korea Post, under the Ministry of Science and ICT, said on Tuesday it will issue 480,000 commemorative stamps featuring four designs - gaehoju, neungsoni, dongburegi and aedot - on Jan. 28.

The stamps feature cute images of young animals. Gaehoju refers to a tiger cub, and neungsoni refers to a bear cub. Dongburegi refers to a calf old enough to grow horns. Aedot refers to a one-year-old pig. The Korean words for the baby animals shown on the stamps can be found in documents and folk records.

A Korea Post official said the animal nicknames used for the stamps are not frequently used in daily life, but recording and remembering them is a practice that preserves cultural diversity and ecological sensitivity. The official said the stamps capture the cute 모습 of baby animals and their distinctive names, and expressed hope that people would feel the warmth of the Korean language and the value of life.
