Google will shorten the release cycle for its Chrome browser to 2 weeks from 4 weeks, The Verge reported on Tuesday.

Google said it is changing the Chrome release cycle to 2 weeks to meet recent web requirements.

The change is aimed at delivering performance improvements, bug fixes and new features to users and developers more quickly. The Verge reported that the shorter update cycle should make debugging easier.

The new release cycle applies from Sept. 8, when Chrome 153 stable is released.

Dev and Canary channels will keep their existing cycles to reflect developer and enterprise environments. The extended stable version for enterprise administrators and Chromium integration will follow an 8-week cycle.
