Google will significantly expand Gemini AI assistant features through a Pixel phone update, The Verge reported on March 3 local time.

With the update, users of the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL will be able to automate various tasks using AI, including grocery shopping and vehicle bookings.

Using Gemini’s agentic features, the AI can directly carry out tasks requested by users, with initial support in some apps including Uber and Grubhub. The AI runs in the background while the user uses the smartphone, and the user can stop the task or step in if needed. The feature is also set to be applied to Samsung S26 models.

The Circle to Search feature will also be upgraded. Drawing a circle on the screen lets users search for information about the image, and it will also support outfit analysis and virtual try-on. Magic Cue will also be enhanced to provide personalised recommendations in messaging, email, weather and phone apps, and it can automatically suggest restaurant recommendations as well.

The features will be supported on the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL and Pixel 10 Pro Fold, and will be limited to some countries and languages. The Pixel 10 series will also add Comfort View, which reduces visual stimulation.

New features will also be applied to older Pixel phones. Pixel 8 and later models will offer a desktop experience when connected to an external display, and Pixel 7 and later models will allow users to check real-time departure, delay and alternative route information through a Glance widget. Pixel 6 and later models will support identifying nearby music, AI-generated app icons, and a feature that lets users view sports games and stock quote information on the home and lock screens.
