Samsung Display said on Tuesday it is supplying Zeekr's 9X with a 16-inch CID (driver display), a 16-inch PID (front passenger display) and a 17-inch RSE (rear-seat entertainment). Zeekr is the premium electric vehicle brand of China's Geely Group.
Samsung Display first supplied OLED panels for the Zeekr 009 model in 2024 and has continued the partnership. The 9X, to which the company supplies products, has ranked No. 1 in China for two consecutive months in sales of large SUVs in the 500,000 yuan (about 100 million won) class since November.
The 16-inch CID and PID, arranged side by side from the driver to the front passenger seat, use thin bezels and true black to create a natural large-screen feel like a single panel. Each can also be used as an independent screen.
The 17-inch RSE mounted on the vehicle ceiling uses a "wing-style sliding screen" developed for the first time in the world. The screen position can be moved through left and right rails inside the vehicle by up to 88 cm between the second and third rows. It solves the problem in three-row six-seat SUVs where fixed RSE screens are not clearly visible from the third row. The 17-inch large screen, along with OLED's wide viewing angle, high contrast and true black, turns a six-seat SUV into a cinema space.
Choi Yong-seok (최용석), executive director in charge of automotive sales at Samsung Display, said Samsung Display's automotive OLEDs have high brightness and true black picture quality, making them a solution that completes a high-end mobility experience. He said the company will continue to introduce high-performance products with differentiated value to strengthen partnerships with global automakers and lead growth in the automotive OLED market.
Shi Yun (쉬윈), head of the Zeekr Automotive Research Institute, said Samsung Display's OLEDs helped create a cinema space and interior suited to the 9X. He said the large screen optimized for a six-seat space will offer customers a special driving experience.
