Wonder, the parent company of Grubhub, has acquired restaurant rewards app Claim, TechCrunch reported on Jan. 20.
Claim is a startup founded in 2021 that helps users earn cashback rewards when they dine at local restaurants or place pickup orders. Restaurants can work with Claim to create promotions, increase visitor numbers and track performance through a dashboard.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but TechCrunch reported that Claim was valued at $62 million when it raised $12 million in a Series A round in October 2024.
Grubhub plans to let restaurants on its platform use Claim tools for customer acquisition and retention through the acquisition and to offer users additional discounts and rewards.
Sam Obletz (샘 오블레츠), Claim's CEO, said Claim aims to connect restaurants with regular customers by combining an enjoyable rewards experience with strong machine learning models. He said it has entered a new phase of expansion with Grubhub.
