Hana Technology has established a pulse charge-discharge subsidiary. Hana Technology, a company specialising in assembly and activation process equipment for secondary batteries, said on Tuesday it has set up its subsidiary Hana Celltron. Hana Celltron will be dedicated to charge-discharge business using pulse technology. Hana Technology plans to fully commercialise pulse technology through the new subsidiary and lead innovation in battery manufacturing processes.

Pulse technology is a technique that periodically controls the flow of current to reduce stress inside batteries and, unlike conventional constant-current and constant-voltage methods, minimises physical and chemical burdens. It shortens charge and discharge time and suppresses dendrite formation to improve safety. Battery life is also extended.

Hana Celltron will provide total solutions along with manufacturing charge-discharge equipment. By combining optimal charge-discharge algorithms with data-based process management software, battery makers can raise production yields and reduce quality deviations, the company said.

Hana Technology said it will use the subsidiary's launch to strengthen cooperation with domestic and overseas battery customers. It plans to expand its lineup of dedicated equipment based on pulse technology to increase its share of the global market.

A Hana Celltron official said, "The establishment and launch of the subsidiary is a starting point where the engineering capabilities Hana Technology has built up meet next-generation pulse technology to present a new standard for battery manufacturing." The official added, "We will become the most trusted solution partner for global battery manufacturers that are eager for process innovation."
