Kakao said on Monday it has fully revamped the ranking tab and product detail pages of KakaoTalk Gift.
It aims to offer a more intuitive user experience across the shopping process, from browsing by gifting purpose to comparing products and deciding on purchases.
The ranking tab was redesigned so users can browse rankings by gifting purpose, budget and preferences. Kakao expanded the previous 2 ranking tabs to 3 tabs, including Fast-rising, Category and Gift themes, so popular gifts now and new products can be more easily discovered.
The newly added Fast-rising tab is centered on products that have recently grown in popularity. It includes sub-tabs such as Bought with my own money, Wish top, Exclusive, Discount benefits and New, enabling users to quickly check trends. The Category tab provides rankings by detailed categories such as makeup, perfume and skincare. The Gift themes tab offers rankings across 14 themes tailored to gifting purposes and recipients, including birthdays, housewarmings, encouragement and thanks.
All ranking tabs provide filter functions by gender, age group and price range, allowing more precise browsing for the intended recipient. The number of products shown for each ranking was also expanded to up to 500.
Kakao also upgraded the product detail pages. It enhanced the information structure and recommendation area so gift information and recommendations can be checked at a glance, delivering product characteristics and recommended recipients more intuitively and strengthening comparison browsing with products of interest.
It also helps users make purchase decisions by having AI analyze product information so product attributes, gifting recipients and gifting purposes appear as tags on the detail page. It supports quick comparison and understanding of products through information such as product characteristics and recommended recipients summarized in a single line by AI, helping customers make rational purchase decisions. The feature will be piloted mainly in the beauty, food and health categories, with plans to expand it to all categories later.
At the bottom of the product detail page, it expanded the recommendation area for comparing and browsing with products of interest. Based on product attribute tags, it suggests up to 3 similar products, along with popular products, new products, good-to-buy-together products, and popular products in a similar price range within the category of the product of interest, supporting product comparisons.
It also created a new Benefit area where users can view Gift-only benefits in one place. Users can check various benefits at a glance, including payment benefits, partner membership point accumulation and long-term interest-free installments, as well as GiftX, free gifts, gift wrapping and custom-made products. It also added content-based browsing elements such as Kakao Shopping Live highlight videos and related live information, and influencer-recommended showroom products.
Kakao plans to temporarily run issue-day rankings in the Gift themes ranking for seasonal occasions such as Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day, and to provide limited rankings in the Fast-rising ranking aligned with Gift promotional periods.
