W Games said on Jan. 20 that the chief executive and AI lab developers from its unit Paxie Games visited South Korea to hold an “AI Game Session” seminar.

The seminar was set up to share AI-based game development processes and real development cases with all employees in W Games’ development division. Paxie Games shared on-the-job applications and accumulated know-how centered on its AI-based ultra-lean development model, called AI Studio, strengthening global R&D synergy.

The seminar comprised various sessions including an AI-based game development process, a case study on developing Wigl Escape using AI Studio, and considerations when adopting AI.

Wigl Escape, which was released in 2 weeks with a team of just 1 to 2 people, surpassed 5.4 million cumulative downloads as of January this year after its release in September last year. It is being evaluated as a case that demonstrated the effectiveness and scalability of an AI development model.

Paxie Games is accelerating its push into the global casual market based on high development efficiency and fast market response enabled by AI Studio. Its total daily downloads increased about 193 percent from March last year, when W Games acquired the company. Over the same period, monthly active users (MAU) rose 184 percent to surpass 1 million, rapidly expanding its presence in the global casual game market.

A developer in Paxie Games’ AI lab explained that AI technology goes beyond a simple tool to improve development efficiency by enabling fast, data-based decision-making, while raising both responsiveness to market trends and risk management capabilities.

A W Games official said the seminar was an important opportunity to spread AI-based game development capabilities across the company through technical exchanges between global organisations. The official said it would strengthen competitiveness based on AI technology in its two business areas of social casino and casual games through continued cooperation with Paxie Games.
