Global e-commerce platform Cafe24 said on Monday it launched a "Japan payment service" in cooperation with electronic payment company KG Inicis to support South Korean businesses entering the Japanese market.
The service provides one-stop access to major payment methods tailored to local Japanese trends, including credit cards (Visa, Master and JCB), convenience store payments and simplified payments such as Line Pay and Amazon Pay. It can be introduced easily through a Cafe24 store using only a South Korean business registration number, even for small merchants without overseas entities.
Cafe24 said it fully waived fees arising in payment, cancellation and chargeback processes, reducing the cost burden on online businesses. It also strengthened security through 3DS authentication and provides a payment user interface optimised for local consumers to improve transaction convenience.
Cafe24 said online direct sales to Japan in the first half of 2025 totalled about 318.2 billion won, up 22.8 percent from a year earlier, as demand for K-brands continues to rise.
Cafe24 Chief Executive Lee Jae-seok said, "Through this cooperation, I hope an environment will be created in which Korean online businesses can conduct business in the Japanese market more easily and effectively."
