The Science and ICT Ministry held an event to present results from programmes supporting overseas expansion by information security companies. The ministry said it hosted the 2025 Information Security Overseas Expansion Strategy Hub Performance Presentation with the Korea Internet and Security Agency at the EL Tower in Yangjae, Seoul, on Dec. 5.
The event was organised to share operational results from overseas strategic hubs and discuss next year’s plans. About 100 people from information security firms and related organisations attended.
The ministry operates four hubs to support the global expansion of information security companies. The hubs are located in Indonesia, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia and Costa Rica. They identify regional demand and help reduce barriers for domestic firms entering overseas markets.
The global security market continues to grow as cyber threats increase and digital use deepens. Korean information security firms are also expanding as they strengthen competitiveness. According to the 2025 Information Security Industry Survey, exports in the sector reached about 1.87 trillion won in 2024, up 11.4 percent from a year earlier.
The ministry said it supports joint growth with overseas companies through the four hubs. The hubs promote four security models and organise business meetings such as export consultations linked to regional events. It also explores cooperation using local networks.
This year’s event was held under the theme of K-security overseas expansion with KISA hubs. It included a performance session and company-hub consultations. The performance session shared key global cooperation achievements by the ministry and announced next year’s overseas expansion support plans. Hub directors presented market trends and cooperation results in their regions. Companies discussed challenges related to overseas expansion with hub directors and explored cooperation using local networks.
Im Jeong-gyu, director of information protection network policy at the ministry, said the ministry plans to expand global cooperation based on local demand and strengthen support for resolving overseas expansion challenges. He said he hopes the event will help Korean firms find new overseas opportunities and build close networks with the security hubs so the industry can achieve greater growth.
