[DigitalToday reporter Jinju Hong] Swiss electric scooter (e-scooter) manufacturer VMAX unveiled three new electric scooters ranging from an ultralight commuting model to a high-performance version. VMAX made clear a strategy to strengthen three pillars in the micro-mobility market at the same time: light weight, performance and reasonable pricing.

Electric vehicle outlet Electrek reported on Jan. 16 that the models unveiled are the VX6, VX8 and VX2 Lite. Each has a distinct concept: ultra-high performance, ultralight commuting and a value-for-money suspension model. All three were developed on the VMAX platform already proven in European and U.S. markets.

The VX6 is VMAX's first ultra-high-performance electric scooter. It uses dual 60V motors to deliver up to 6,000W of power. Its firmware-limited top speed is 50 miles per hour, about 80 km/h, and it can climb slopes of up to 50 percent.

Despite a large 1,890Wh battery, it supports ultra-fast charging of 1.8 hours. Braking is handled by dual 140mm hydraulic disc brakes and adjustable hydraulic suspension. It uses 11-inch self-sealing tubeless tires and a reinforced stem structure to secure stability at high speed. Its U.S. launch is scheduled for May to June 2026.

The VX8 is a commuting model that reduces weight to an extreme. It uses a carbon-fiber chassis for the frame, fork and stem, and weighs only 34.2 pounds, about 15.5 kg. It has a planetary gear drive motor with 1,400W peak output and can climb slopes of up to 38 percent, with a top speed of 30 km/h for city riding. It also includes premium commuting specifications such as an auto-brightness TFT display, turn signals, regenerative braking and an IPX6 water-resistance rating.

The VX2 Lite is a model that applies real suspension at a reasonable price. It has a front spring suspension and rear elastomer suspension to improve road handling. Its top speed is 40 km/h and its maximum range reaches about 90 km. It uses 10-inch tubeless tires, a front drum brake and a rear regenerative braking system to reduce maintenance 부담, and it also enhances visibility with multi-directional turn signals.

The lineup is drawing attention because it targets different needs at the same time—ultralight, high performance and value—rather than focusing on a single concept. It is a strategy to expand its presence in the micro-mobility market through a broad spectrum, from an 80 km/h-class high-performance scooter to a carbon-fiber commuter model and a reasonably priced full-suspension model.
