South Korea's National Radio Research Agency and the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) will co-host an international standardisation meeting in Seoul's Gangnam district from March 4 to 12 on electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) for future vehicles, they said on Monday.

The meeting will bring together about 70 experts from 12 countries including the United States, Japan and China, with standardising EMC evaluation methods for electric and autonomous vehicles as a key agenda item. Discussions will focus on 4 core areas: introducing standards for a next-generation test facility, the reverberation chamber (RVC); sensor-specific immunity evaluation technology for autonomous driving systems; introducing virtual evaluation simulations; and calculating permissible standards for electromagnetic interference (EMI) dedicated to electric vehicles.

The South Korean delegation submitted 5 technical papers to reflect domestic technologies in international standards, including a proposal for a broadband antenna for the 360 MHz to 7.2 GHz band and improvements to electromagnetic immunity measurement methods based on multitoned signals.

On March 10, during the meeting, experts from each country will visit the Korea Automobile Testing and Research Institute's Connected Center in Cheongna, Incheon, to tour South Korea's automotive electromagnetic testing and certification infrastructure.

Jeong Chang-rim (정창림), head of the National Radio Research Agency, said, "With this Seoul meeting as a momentum, we will actively support efforts so that domestically led technologies are reflected in international standards, enabling us to secure technological leadership and strengthen global competitiveness."
