KB Financial Group on Tuesday released a video for its public participation campaign, “Rewriting Korea Is Alive,” with professor Seo Kyung-duk (서경덕) and singer Lee Sang-soon (이상순). The campaign aims to remember the spirit of the March 1 Independence Movement and pass it on to the next generation.

The video features ambassador Seo, singer-songwriter Lee and lyricist Han Sung-il (한성일), whose work won top prize in a contest. They calmly lay out the campaign’s purpose, how it was made and the message contained in “Ordinary Days.”

KB Financial said it ran the “Rewriting Korea Is Alive” campaign last year to mark the 80th anniversary of liberation. It added lyrics “to be carried on even 100 years from now” with the public to an unreleased melody by music director Jung Jae-il (정재일), who took part in the 2019 project “Korea Is Alive.”

A total of 2,135 lyric entries were reviewed, with Seo, Lee and a 31-member public evaluation panel taking part in judging. The official audio track was released on March 1 to mark the 107th anniversary of March 1st Movement Day, combining Han’s winning lyrics for “Ordinary Days” with an arrangement by Jung and support from singer Lee Juck (이적).

Filming took place at the Ewha Museum in Jeong-dong, Seoul. Seo and Lee discuss the meaning of the March 1 Independence Movement in a cross interview and deliver the message, “The very name that became the identity of the Republic of Korea, the March 1 Independence Movement.”

A KB Financial official said what independence activists sought to protect was not grand glory but “ordinary days” with their loved ones. The official said KB Financial wants to carry the sincerity of 100 years ago into the melodies of 2026 and deliver it to the next generation 100 years from now so that their ordinary dreams are not in vain.
