Viva Republica, operator of the Toss app, said on Tuesday it has opened its first in-house childcare centre, the Toss Ieum Childcare Center.
Toss has built a hub model through joint operations with other companies' childcare centres, partnering with a total of 24 childcare facilities so employees can send their children to centres in various areas.
Based on the capacity limits of each facility, the network can accommodate up to a maximum in the hundreds. With the opening of the in-house childcare centre, Toss employees can now choose a facility that fits their workplace and home conditions from a total of 25 childcare centres, including in-house and partnered options.
The Toss Ieum Childcare Center is located near the company's headquarters building in Yeoksam-dong, Seoul's Gangnam-gu. It has 2 floors above ground and 1 basement level. It has a capacity of 43 children and serves infants and young children aged 0 to 5. It operates from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. A total of 13 staff, including early childhood education specialist teachers and cooks, care for the children.
It provides extended nighttime care and dinner, and it also runs special activity programmes for 2- and 3-year-old classes, including English, music and physical education. It has also set up a care system for sick children so team members can balance work and family. It also runs quarterly parent participation programmes and counselling, and strengthened safety and hygiene management systems, building a stable care and education environment beyond basic childcare.
A Toss official said, "The opening of this childcare centre is meaningful in that we directly built an environment where team members can feel safe and stay focused, beyond simply expanding benefits." The official added, "Toss will continue to expand infrastructure that considers the lives of team members and their families together."
