Huawei unveiled an Agentic Communication Network (ACN: Agentic Communication Network) at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in Barcelona, Spain.

According to Techzine, Huawei aims to use ACN to convert existing networks into communications based on AI agents.

Huawei cited three core ACN functions: digital identity management, dynamic group communication and collaboration task session management.

It is a structure designed for an era in which hundreds of millions of AI agents connect to networks to exchange information. Existing networks focused on vertical connections from devices to service platforms. With demand rising rapidly for horizontal connections in which AI agents communicate directly with each other, Huawei is positioning ACN as intelligent infrastructure spanning physical and digital environments.

On identity management, ACN expands existing SIM-based methods and supports agents registering service capabilities and functional attributes on the network. When a service request occurs, ACN finds a suitable agent and grants communication authority.

For group communications, it dynamically creates temporary networks for each collaboration task. Data exchanges between agents are handled directly within the network, and it provides separate isolated environments for each task group to prevent data from leaking outside.

ACN intelligently matches counterpart agents based on agent intent and also sets up task sessions between agents. It supports collaboration across diverse ecosystems and device types and across network domains, from the application layer to the network layer.

Huawei also announced an agent core solution at MWC 2026. It focused on commercialising agent networks to respond to changes in network requirements such as traffic surges. It also unveiled A2A-T, an open-source project to standardise agent communication protocol standards in telecommunications. The aim is to shorten the time needed to integrate cross-domain workflows from several months to days.
