[Barcelona, Spain=Digital Today reporter Jin-ho Lee] SK Telecom CEO Jung Jae-heon (정재헌) expressed surprise at Samsung Electronics’ strong device technology. Samsung Electronics CEO Roh Tae-moon (노태문) voiced confidence in the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s “privacy display” and promised continued cooperation.
At MWC 26, which opened on March 2 local time in Barcelona, Jung toured Samsung Electronics’ booth with Roh. It was the first time Jung and Roh met.
The Galaxy S26 series is drawing strong praise from foreign media, especially for the privacy display technology applied to the Ultra model. The feature limits viewing angles so others cannot see what is on the screen.
Jung tried the S26 model and joked to Roh, “Privacy film companies must all be going under.” Roh replied, “With film, you have no choice once it is attached, but Samsung Electronics’ hardware-based privacy display can selectively conceal a specific app or a specific area.”
Jung also tried Buds4 and Galaxy XR and expressed admiration. He checked antioxidant levels through the Galaxy Watch as he experienced the broader Galaxy AI ecosystem.
The two companies, described as the top firms in the telecoms and electronics industries, plan to pursue continued cooperation. They aim to defend their top position through synergies between mobile network operators and devices, including expanding device supply. Jung, Roh and officials from both companies ended the meeting with a chant of encouragement.
Jung also visited Xiaomi’s booth that day. He toured the booth with Adam Zeng (아담 젱), president of Xiaomi’s international division, and watched technology demonstrations including the smart home platform “Xiaomi Miloco.” Jung also got into the electric vehicle “SU7 Ultra” and operated the new flagship smartphone “Ultra 17.”
Meeting reporters, Jung said, “In the AI era, don’t you think everything will be connected, such as devices and network AI?” He added, “Xiaomi seems to have shown that it can connect all of them.”
