[DigitalToday reporter Sangyeop Oh (오상엽)] The securities industry will hold an ISA sign-up and investment event throughout March, starting on March 3, to mark the 10th anniversary of the launch of the Individual Savings Account. It will use the catchphrase, "ISA 10th anniversary, today’s investment makes tomorrow."

The Korea Financial Investment Association said on March 2 it prepared the event jointly with securities firms to mark the 10th anniversary of the introduction of ISA this month.

A total of 21 securities firms will take part. They plan to offer various benefits by firm to customers who open new ISA accounts, make additional contributions or transfer their accounts.

The securities industry selected the catchphrase, "ISA 10th anniversary, today’s investment makes tomorrow," for the event.

Securities firms plan to use the catchphrase during March to highlight the meaning of the ISA's 10th anniversary. They also plan to deliver the message that preparing and investing steadily through ISA can later become a large asset.

ISA is a tax-saving account product introduced in March 2016 to support asset building through comprehensive asset management by the public. It allows investment in various financial products in a single account, including domestically listed stocks, funds, ETFs and deposits and savings.

As of the end of January 2026, ISA has grown to about 8 million subscribers with subscriptions of 50 trillion won.

In the early stage of ISA's introduction, it drew attention as the number of subscribers surpassed 2 million within three months of launch, centered on the trust-type product. But for a time, subscriber numbers appeared to stagnate at around 2 million.

Subscriber numbers and subscription amounts have continued to rise since February 2021, after the introduction of the investment brokerage ISA, which lets subscribers directly invest in and manage various financial investment products within the account.

Recently, alongside a boom in the domestic stock market, 6.4 trillion won flowed into subscriptions in January alone. Subscriber numbers also rose by an average of about 370,000 per month over the three months from November last year to January this year, showing a steep increase.

Jaeyoung Han (한재영), head of the K Capital Markets Division at the association, said, "ISA has grown over the past 10 years into a representative product to support household asset building by the public." He added, "I hope that, on the back of this event, more people will take interest in investment and asset management and make active use of ISA."
