K Bank said on Jan. 19 it received the Financial Supervisory Service’s "2025 Voice Phishing Merit Award" institutional citation in recognition of its contribution over the past year to preventing and eradicating voice phishing losses.

The citation is decided each year based on cases that made practical contributions to preventing voice phishing and minimising damage, following a merits review and a recommendation decision by the FSS review panel. K Bank was the only institution selected in the institutional category.

K Bank said it has continuously advanced its fraud detection system. As of the end of December last year, it pre-emptively detected 386 suspected voice phishing cases and took temporary measures, contributing to preventing losses for K Bank customers.

K Bank is also responding actively to account-freeze blackmail scams. Since March last year, it has implemented measures to automatically detect account threats based on the Telegram IDs of the criminal groups behind the scams and to block deposits and payments. It said 367 deposit and payment actions have helped prevent such scams since then.

As a result, K Bank’s number of public notices to initiate bond extinction procedures has remained at the lowest level in the banking sector, at a monthly average of around 50 cases as of the end of December 2025.

A K Bank official said the award recognised its efforts to respond pre-emptively to safeguard customers’ valuable assets. The official said the bank will continue to advance a prevention-focused security system based on AI to protect customers from various financial scams.
