Shinsung Engie said on Jan. 19 it received a 'B' rating in the climate change category from global environmental non-profit CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project). About 220,700 companies disclosed environmental information to CDP in 2025. Shinsung Engie was included among the companies that received ratings.
CDP comprehensively assesses companies on the level of environmental disclosure, recognition of climate change risks, environmental management systems, and greenhouse gas reduction strategies and implementation results. The results are divided into eight levels: A/A-, B/B-, C/C-, and D/D-. A B rating is the 'Management' level, a stage in which a company is recognised for its climate risk management system and the execution of reduction activities.
Shinsung Engie received a positive assessment for systematically identifying climate change risks and opportunities and for building and implementing a management system. Calculation of greenhouse gas emissions, phased reduction activities and transparent disclosure of environmental indicators were also factors in the assessment. Each grade reflects a company's environmental goal-setting, willingness to execute and performance.
The Yongin smart factory supplies about 50 percent of its total electricity use with renewable energy through its own solar power generation facilities. It contributes to reducing Scope 2 emissions. The company supports clients' carbon emissions reductions with high-efficiency clean room and HVAC solutions, energy-saving air-conditioning technology, and high-performance FFU and EFU.
It is also shifting to a low-carbon business structure centered on its solar energy solutions business. Global investors use CDP ratings as an indicator of mid- to long-term environmental competitiveness. The company said this rating, following its receipt of an overall ESG A grade from domestic ESG rating agency Sustinvest, proves domestically and internationally its results in building and implementing climate change and environmental management systems.
A Shinsung Engie official said the CDP assessment was meaningful because its efforts to respond to climate change, expand renewable energy use and improve energy efficiency were recognised internationally. The official said the company will continue to strengthen greenhouse gas reduction activities at major sites and pursue sustainable growth based on competitiveness in environmentally friendly technologies.
