Shinhan Investment said on Dec. 2 it introduced a Simple Mode on its mobile trading system for elderly and novice investors.
The new mode is first applied to the watchlist, quote, order, balance and transfer screens that customers use most. Users can switch the mode on or off from the home screen with a single setting, allowing immediate changes based on their needs.
The company said it focused on readability and comprehension from the UI and UX design stage. It increased font sizes by at least 20 percent from previous screens and replaced English currency labels such as USD and JPY with Korean terms including United States dollar and Japanese yen to help customers unfamiliar with financial terminology.
The order screen, where users can easily make mistakes, was reorganised with a separate Simple Order function that highlights essential information and reduces input steps. Transfer tasks with complex procedures display progress and remaining steps visually to reduce confusion. A shortcut for incident reporting was added to the MY Home screen to allow immediate reporting of suspicious transactions.
Han Il-hyun, head of the platform business division at Shinhan Investment, said the mode is not a simple UI change but a redesign of the financial platform from the customer perspective. He said the company will expand applicable screens and functions based on customer reactions and suggestions after launch.
