ChatGPT has surpassed 900 million weekly users, putting it close to the 1 billion mark. OpenAI said in a blog post on Feb. 27 local time that paid ChatGPT subscriptions have exceeded 50 million. It said it expects to set a record for new subscribers in January and February 2026.
The company said weekly users increased by 100 million in three months from 800 million in October last year.
OpenAI also disclosed, alongside the announcement, an additional $110 billion funding round. Amazon invested $50 billion, while Nvidia and SoftBank each invested $30 billion.
Its pre-money valuation was assessed at $730 billion. The investment is among the largest private funding rounds in history, and OpenAI also plans to raise additional investment.
