LG Electronics said on Jan. 18 it will launch the LG Puricare Bath Air System, a bathroom air-quality management system. It is the company’s first bathroom air-care product. It features temperature and humidity sensing and automatic operation, blocking outside odours and hygiene management functions.

Users of existing products identified tasks such as the inconvenience of adjusting bathroom temperature and humidity, the inflow of outside dust or odours, and difficulty in hygiene management. The company said it developed the new product to reflect these customer needs.

The Bath Air System detects temperature and humidity in real time and automatically switches between warm air, airflow and ventilation. Its space care mode preheats the bathroom with warm air when it is cold and removes moisture with airflow and ventilation when humidity is high. It automatically switches to standby when the bathroom temperature and humidity reach 22 degrees and 50 percent, respectively.

Dual exhaust adds another exhaust fan to the main unit to increase air circulation speed. Ventilation is faster than when there is only 1 exhaust fan. It is equipped with a backflow prevention device that blocks outside dust or odours when the product is turned off. Body care mode dries water from hair and the body after a shower.

Its UV nano technology sterilises 99.99 percent of bacteria inside the blower fan. A notification appears on the product display when it is time for cleaning. Users can remove the filter attached to the magnetic panel and rinse it with water. The LG ThinQ app can be used to check bathroom temperature and humidity and set scheduled operation.

It will be released in a premium model and a premium dual model that includes an additional exhaust fan. Installation takes about 1 hour even if users already have an existing product, without separate construction aside from drilling. The premium model costs 990,000 won for a one-time payment, or 24,900 won a month on a subscription basis based on 6 years. The premium dual costs 1,190,000 won for a one-time payment. The launch date is Jan. 19.

Bae Jeong-hyeon, executive vice president and head of the SAC business division at LG Electronics’ ES business headquarters, said, "With the LG Puricare Bath Air System, which integrates various technologies from LG Electronics’ premium home appliances, we will provide a differentiated customer experience that conveniently and comfortably manages bathroom air throughout the four seasons."
