[Digital Today reporter Chi-gyu Hwang] SymbolicAI, a generative AI-based media startup, is accelerating its push into AI journalism by working with Rupert Murdoch-led News Corp, TechCrunch reported on Thursday.

News Corp is a large media group that owns major outlets including MarketWatch, the New York Post and the Wall Street Journal. It plans to step up AI-based news production through the collaboration.

SymbolicAI is a startup founded by former eBay CEO Devin Wenig and Ars Technica co-founder John Stokes. It has stressed that AI can improve newsroom productivity. The company says its platform delivers productivity gains of up to 90 percent in areas including headline optimisation, audio transcription, fact-checking, newsletter generation and SEO advice.

News Corp last year worked with OpenAI to allow its content to be used for generative AI training. This year it plans to extend that to other AI companies. The partnership with SymbolicAI is seen as a strategic move toward AI journalism.
