KT said on Thursday it signed a strategic memorandum of understanding in Taipei with KBRO, Taiwan’s largest cable broadcasting operator, to jointly develop AI-based digital media and smart home services.
Under the deal, KT plans to supply the Taiwan market with differentiated media services and device technologies, including AI-based smart home services, interactive voice recognition technology, AI-optimised UI and UX screens and intelligent content recommendations.
The two companies will also pursue joint development of technology and service models needed for a transition to smart homes, based on KT’s AI agent and AI media service know-how. They will introduce an “all-in-one soundbar set-top box” in Taiwan featuring a Harman Kardon speaker, Dolby Atmos and support for global OTT services such as Netflix, Disney+ and YouTube.
KT will also distribute original content through Taiwan content platforms including MyVideo. It will pursue locally tailored content planning and joint marketing as well.
Kim Chae-hee, executive vice president and head of KT’s media division, said the cooperation would help strengthen competitiveness in AI smart homes and media services. KT will continue efforts to expand globally in telecommunications and media based on AI technology, he said.
