Naver said on Jan. 16 it held the 13th “Nulli Webinar” on Jan. 15 under the theme of “digital rights through AI-based accessibility,” and discussed strengthening accessibility and expanding digital inclusion using AI technology.

The “Nulli Webinar” is an event where people from the IT industry and academia share insights and practical know-how related to digital accessibility, and it marked its 13th edition this year. The webinar was held under the slogan “No Barriers, All Connected.” Domestic and foreign experts including Naver Cloud, UN OHCHR, Samsung Electronics, N Tech Service, Envisions, KAIST and Sogang University took part and shared various practical cases on the value of digital inclusion and improving accessibility through AI technology.

Ok Sang-hoon, AI solution planning leader at Naver Cloud, participated as a speaker and pointed to the importance of digital accessibility in a super-aged society. He introduced an example implemented through the AI check-in call service “Clova CareCall.” Ok stressed that AI technology is not an end but a means to improve digital inclusiveness. He said that by considering convenience and AI ethics along with AI capabilities that empathise with and understand conversations in the service design process, Clova CareCall was able to spread successfully.

Lee Seung-ho, a developer at N Tech Service, introduced design efforts to secure both structural and visual accessibility so that anyone can easily use information across major Naver services such as Search and Place. Shin Eui-sik, also a developer, explained the development process for a solution that uses AI to diagnose accessibility in real time. Elsewhere, Park Hye-jin, a professor at Sogang University, highlighted the importance of securing digital rights through improved financial accessibility, and Han Ki-bbeum, a human rights officer at UN OHCHR, presented the need for companies to consider human rights in decision-making in the AI era and specific standards.
