KT said on Jan. 16 it shared the results of AI practical projects carried out over the past year by KT Digital Talent Scholars at KT’s Gwanghwamun Building WEST on Jan. 15.

The KT Digital Talent Scholars program is a scholarship initiative that supports university students who dream of entering the IT and AI fields with tuition assistance and hands-on growth experiences. Since it began in 1988, it has provided scholarships to about 12,000 university students over 38 years through this year.

At this year’s results-sharing event, scholars presented examples of outstanding AI-related activities they carried out last year, including an AI project to solve community problems that drew interest from local governments such as the Jongno-gu Office and the Seongdong-gu Office.

KT said it will continue to run various hands-on projects and programs to strengthen the scholar network this year so that scholars can further expand their AI practical capabilities and problem-solving skills.

KT is recruiting new KT Digital Talent Scholars for 2026 through Jan. 30. Any university student with interest and potential in AI and ICT can apply. More information is available on the KT Group Hope Sharing Foundation website.

Oh Tae-sung, head of KT’s ESG Management Promotion Office and an executive director, said, "Through the KT Digital Talent Scholars program, we will provide differentiated hands-on AI education and various growth opportunities, and will continue to contribute to nurturing AI talent in South Korea."
