AI coding startup Replit has unveiled a feature that allows users to develop mobile apps using only natural language input and upload them to Apple’s App Store, CNBC reported on Jan. 15 local time.

Replit also integrates with payments platform Stripe to support app monetisation. The company said this is a step beyond AI coding services offered by OpenAI, Microsoft and Google.

For example, if a stock trader types, "Create an app that tracks the top 10 companies by market capitalisation," Replit automatically generates an app with a working interface and supports testing, CNBC reported.

Vibe-coding, which uses AI to code in natural language without writing code directly, has rapidly emerged amid the generative AI boom and is drawing particular attention as Anthropic Claude Code spreads. But the spread of AI coding is hurting the existing software market. The iShares Tech-Software ETF has fallen 11 percent over the past three months, reflecting the impact AI agents and coding products are expected to have on existing software companies, CNBC reported.
