The Korea Exchange said its chairman, Jung Eun-bo, joined the "relay challenge" campaign to eradicate illegal online gambling among teenagers on Wednesday.
The challenge is a public-interest campaign launched by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency in March 2024 to highlight the risks of illegal online gambling targeting teenagers and block its spread.
Participants promote the campaign by taking a certification photo with the phrase, "Illegal online gambling targeting teenagers is a fraudulent crime you can never beat," and nominating the next participant.
Nominated by Kang Young-gu, chairman of the Korea Fire Insurance Association, Jung said illegal online gambling is an addictive crime that is hard to stop once someone gets hooked. He said the Korea Exchange would join efforts to raise awareness of teenagers' access to online gambling through the campaign and help create a sound environment so teenagers can grow up in a healthy way.
Jung named Kim Sung-hwan, CEO of Korea Investment & Securities, and Lee Seok-ki, CEO of Kyobo Securities, as the next participants in the relay campaign.
