Korea Exchange is providing 50 million won to help socially vulnerable crime victims in the Busan area, stepping up locally tailored social contribution activities.

The exchange held a donation ceremony on Feb. 27 at the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency to support and protect socially vulnerable crime victims and delivered 50 million won to the Busan Community Chest of Korea.

The programme was set up to ease crisis situations and help vulnerable people in the Busan area return to everyday life after suffering financial and psychological difficulties due to crime.

The exchange plans to work with the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency to quickly receive victim referrals, and to disburse the funds with the Busan Community Chest of Korea to provide practical support such as living and medical expenses.

Eun-bo Jeong (정은보), chairman of Korea Exchange, said he hopes the support will provide a small help in overcoming the difficulties of being a crime victim and finding stability in life. He said the exchange will continue its social contribution activities to protect vulnerable people in local communities and strengthen safety nets.
