[DigitalToday reporter Jinju Hong] U.S. electric bicycle brand Aventon has officially launched the ultra-light urban e-bike Soltera 3 ADV. The new model targets city riders who value simplicity, low maintenance and easy handling. It is Aventon's lightest e-bike and features a minimalist design.

Electrek, an electric vehicle outlet, reported on Tuesday that the Soltera 3 ADV weighs 37 pounds, or about 16.8 kg, making it the lightest model in Aventon's lineup. In a market where high-output e-bikes approaching 30 kg are increasing, Aventon has sought differentiation through a lighter body alone.

The bike adopts a single-speed drivetrain with a Gates carbon belt drive, eliminating chain, grease and rust issues to minimize maintenance. It combines torque-sensor-based pedal assist with hydraulic disc brakes to deliver a simple yet premium ride feel. It is priced at $1,499, or about 2.2 million won.

Power comes from a 250W rear hub motor with a 500W peak, and it is designed as a Class 1-only e-bike without a throttle. Top speed is 20 mph, or about 32 km per hour, on pedal assist. The lack of a throttle may divide opinions, but the Class 1 specification allows broader riding even in areas with strict regulations.

The 36V 367Wh battery is fully integrated into the frame, and Aventon suggests a maximum range of 70 miles, or about 112 km. Efficient 700x38c tires, an integrated headlight and turn signals, and a slim aluminum frame design also stand out. The fully integrated battery, which cannot be easily removed from the outside, is seen as having both advantages and disadvantages.

The Soltera 3 ADV comes in Matte Storm Blue, Matte Black and Sterling Silver, with deliveries set to begin this month. The product can be purchased through Aventon's official website and dealer network.

The industry is assessing the Soltera 3 ADV as a lightweight e-bike optimized for commuting and daily travel. With its focus on lightness, quietness and practicality rather than high output or multi-speed gearing, it is expected to be a suitable option for riders who want the convenience of electric assist while keeping the feel of a traditional urban bicycle.
