iM Bank said on Thursday it held a donation ceremony at the North Gyeongsang provincial government complex with North Gyeongsang Province and the Gyeongbuk branch of the Korean Red Cross to build a cooperation system for supporting vulnerable groups and preparing for disasters.

The donation was arranged to enable rapid relief activities when disasters occur and to strengthen welfare support for vulnerable groups during normal times.

iM Bank donated 80 million won, which will be used for relief activities across North Gyeongsang through the Gyeongbuk branch of the Korean Red Cross. Supported items include producing disaster-relief vehicles, providing emergency relief supplies and recovery support programmes for older people.

The disaster-relief vehicles and emergency supplies will be used to support shelters for displaced people and to transport relief goods during disasters such as wildfires, heatwaves and heavy rain. During normal times, they are also planned to be used for programmes for older people, including free meal volunteer work involving employees.

iM Bank has continued local social contribution activities such as donating Onnuri gift certificates, holding events to support vulnerable groups and employee volunteer work.

CEO Kang Jung-hoon (강정훈) said the bank will continue its role as a financial institution in supporting disaster-vulnerable groups together with the local community. He said it will continue activities for shared growth with the region.
