Testo Korea, the South Korean unit of measurement technology company Testo, said on Nov. 2 it launched the Testo 513 gas leak detector and the Testo 514 refrigerant leak detector.

The company said use of flammable, eco-friendly refrigerants such as R32 and R290 is increasing as hydrogen fluoride carbon (HFC) phase-down starts from 2029. The two products have response and recovery times under 2 seconds and visual and audible alarms. Sensitivity is 3 g/a in high-sensitivity mode and 14 g/a in low-sensitivity mode. High-sensitivity mode is used for minute leaks, while low-sensitivity mode is used to narrow down the location near a large leak.

The Testo 513 detects four types: methane, propane, butane and hydrogen. It can convert readings into ppm, Vol.% and %LEL, allowing users to check risk levels against the lower explosive limit (LEL).

The Testo 514 detects HCFC, HFC and HFO series, hydrocarbon refrigerants such as R290, and mixed refrigerants. It starts measurement by switching on the power without selecting a refrigerant group. It also meets leak detector requirements under the European Union's F-Gas regulation.

The probe-tip MOx sensor can be replaced on site, with a service life of about 2 years. The device can run for up to 10 hours on three AA alkaline batteries, and the main unit weighs 296 grams.

Kim Won-seok (김원석), head of Testo Korea, said the two products will effectively support on-site leak inspection work with fast response, intuitive measurement results and convenient maintenance.
