[DigitalToday reporter Ji-young Lee] Hana Bank is introducing a service on its mobile app Hana OneQ that allows customers to buy physical gold bars or give them to others as gifts. Previously, customers had to visit a branch to buy gold bars. Under the new service, customers can apply for a transaction on mobile and pick up the gold at a selected branch.
Hana Bank said on Nov. 2 it is launching the "Gold Bar Gift and Purchase" service.
The service expands a gold bar purchase process that was available only at branches to mobile, allowing customers to apply for a purchase without face-to-face contact and receive the physical product.
Customers who receive a gift can select a Hana Bank branch in the mobile app for pickup and receive the gold bar by visiting that branch. The transaction limit is up to 50 grams per day and 200 grams per month.
Under the "gold bar purchase" service, customers apply to buy in Hana OneQ and designate a branch for pickup. Customers can then visit the branch at a time of their choosing to collect the gold bar.
Previously, customers had to visit a branch twice to purchase and collect gold bars. Mobile applications will allow them to reduce the number of visits.
The gold bars available for purchase come in five types: 10 grams, 37.5 grams, 100 grams, 500 grams and 1 kilogram.
A Hana Bank official said, "This service was designed to dramatically improve convenience for purchasing and gifting gold bars through Hana OneQ and to help customers access physical gold more easily and safely." The official added, "We will continue to expand differentiated services."
