AI chip company FuriosaAI said on Jan. 15 it signed a memorandum of understanding with MangoBoost, led by Chief Executive Kim Jang-woo, to jointly develop AI infrastructure technologies. The two companies will build a cooperation framework in the data centre infrastructure sector and strengthen competitiveness through technical exchanges.

FuriosaAI has a chip architecture specialised for AI computing, called TCP (Tensor Contraction Processor), and software stack technology. It will start mass production of its second-generation chip, RNGD (Renegade), equipped with HBM at the end of this month.

MangoBoost has DPU (data processing unit) technology specialised for high-performance networking and AI system performance optimisation technology. Earlier this month, it began mass production of its BoostX DPU product family with 400GbE-class performance.

FuriosaAI CEO Baik Jun-ho said, "The competitiveness of next-generation AI data centres depends on how closely and efficiently high-performance AI semiconductors and networking chips are combined." He said, "Through cooperation with MangoBoost, FuriosaAI will show new possibilities for South Korea's AI infrastructure technology."

MangoBoost CEO Kim Jang-woo said, "This agreement is significant in that it is a strategic combination between AI semiconductor startups representing South Korea." He said, "By combining the two companies' innovative technologies, we will present a standard for efficient and sustainable next-generation data centres."
