[Digital Today reporter Chigyoo Hwang] Google has launched a "Personal Intelligence" feature, an AI tool that analyses personal data such as Gmail and Google Photos to provide tailored answers, CNBC reported on Jan. 14 local time.
Personal Intelligence supports personalised responses by automatically analysing data across various apps, including emails, photos and videos, to understand context even without direct user instructions.
Josh Woodward, vice president of Google Labs and the Gemini app, said, "Gemini can now understand the context in emails or photos even if the user does not command it."
Personal Intelligence adds AI capabilities that analyse relationships between data beyond the information search functions previously offered by the Gemini app. Apple is also developing a similar system and has recently selected Google as an AI partner while pursuing a Siri upgrade.
Personal Intelligence will be offered first to AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in the United States and will later be applied to AI Mode. The default setting remains disabled. It is currently in beta, so some errors may occur.
Woodward said Gemini may make mistakes on sensitive topics such as divorce or relationship changes, and that health-related information was designed to be answered only when users request it directly.
