AI chip startup Cerebras has signed a $10 billion AI computing deal with OpenAI, CNBC reported on Jan. 14 local time.

The deal aims to provide 750 megawatts of AI computing power through 2028.

Through the deal, Cerebras lowers its reliance on Middle East-based AI and cloud company G42 and secures a foothold to compete with Nvidia, CNBC said.

Cerebras develops processors for large AI models, and G42 has accounted for 87 percent of its revenue.

Cerebras is preparing an IPO. The company said its revenue in the second quarter last year rose to $70 million from $6 million a year earlier. But its net loss also widened to $51 million.
