China's social media company Kuaishou Technology said its AI-based video-generation tool Kling AI generated $20 million in revenue in December alone last year.

The Information reported that annualised revenue, which stood at about $100 million as of March, rose to $240 million, an unusually rare growth rate in the industry.

After the announcement, Kuaishou shares rose 4.5 percent in Hong Kong.

Kling's results stand out more when compared with rivals. Hailuo AI, an AI video-generation tool operated by MiniMax Group, earned $17.5 million over the nine months from January to September 2025, less than Kling AI's December revenue alone. Documents MiniMax submitted for a Hong Kong listing show the company is still in the red.

Kuaishou generates most of its revenue and profit from a short-form video app that competes with ByteDance's Douyin, the China version of TikTok.
