[Digital Today reporter Jae-won Choi] Electric bicycle brand Amflow has unveiled a new product that can be used from commuting to mountain riding. It is expanding its lineup, which had focused on high-performance electric mountain bikes, into everyday use and long-distance riding as it moves to target the market.
ElecTrek reported on Oct. 26 local time that Amflow has begun global sales of the SUV-style electric bicycle TL Carbon and launched the PR Carbon series with a removable battery in the U.S. market for the first time.
TL Carbon is Amflow's first SUV-style electric bicycle. It combines the off-road capability of a mountain bike with the practicality of commuter and touring bikes.
The bike is equipped with an Avinox M2 mid-drive motor that delivers up to 125 Nm of torque. It also has an 800Wh battery and a full-suspension structure that absorbs shocks at the front and rear.
The bike weighs as little as 22.6 kg, and the maximum permissible load, including the bike, rider and cargo, is 200 kg. The U.S. price starts at $3,899, or about 5,161,900 won.
The PR Carbon series centers on a removable battery. The 800Wh battery, weighing about 4 kg, can be detached for indoor charging or swapped with a spare battery.
Amflow puts the maximum range at 158 km. The figure is based on a test in which an 80 kg rider used Eco mode at 21 km per hour on a flat, paved road. Actual range may be shorter in mountainous terrain or at higher output.
The standard PR Carbon provides up to 125 Nm of torque with an Avinox M2 motor. The higher-end PR Carbon Pro uses an M2S motor that boosts torque to as much as 150 Nm.
U.S. prices start at $4,999 for the PR Carbon, or about 6,618,200 won, and $6,799 for the PR Carbon Pro, or about 9,002,600 won. In Europe, prices in Germany are 4,499 euros, or about 6,655,900 won, and 5,899 euros, or about 8,727,100 won, respectively.
Models sold in the United States are released in a Class 1 format in which the motor operates only when pedaling. Electric assist speed is up to 32 km per hour, and some models support up to 45 km per hour through a settings change.
Amflow plans to target consumers who want both high performance and practicality through this product expansion.
