Asung Daiso has begun building the Yangju Hub Center, a logistics facility that will process online and offline orders together in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province. The company said on Oct. 27 it held a groundbreaking ceremony on Oct. 26 at the Eunnam Industrial Complex in Yangju. Total investment is 600 billion won, and it is targeting completion in January 2029. The center will have 4 above-ground floors and 1 basement level, with a total floor area of 62,346 pyeong.

The Yangju Hub Center will be Asung Daiso’s fourth hub center and the largest among its logistics centers. The Namsa Hub Center and the Busan Hub Center have already opened, and the Sejong Hub Center is set to open in April 2027. Once completed, it will supply products to about 800 stores in the Seoul metropolitan area and Gangwon region and process 50,000 Daiso Mall orders a day. Its daily order-processing target is 350,000 orders, more than the Namsa Hub Center’s 230,000, the Busan Hub Center’s 320,000 and the Sejong Hub Center’s 300,000.

An omnichannel logistics method will be applied at the Yangju Hub Center, processing online and offline orders in a single system. It is designed to use inventory and equipment jointly, rather than splitting logistics by channel. This reduces duplicated inventory storage and inventory movement between channels, lowering operating costs, the company said. The Eunnam Industrial Complex, where the center will be built, is in areas including Doha-ri in Eunhyeon-myeon and Sangsu-ri in Nam-myeon, Yangju, and connects to the Gwangjeok interchange on the Capital Region Second Ring Expressway and the Seoul-Yangju Expressway.

Automation equipment will be introduced from global logistics automation company Knapp. The OSR, a high-speed shuttle system that stores products on shelves and retrieves them, will process 20,000 orders per hour with 478 shuttles and 46 lifts. Online and offline inventory will be operated together on a single shuttle rack. The GTP system, which automatically delivers products to workers, and the ODS system, which adjusts the order-processing sequence, will reduce the burden of sorting and picking work.

Asung Daiso expects the center’s operation to create about 1,000 jobs. The company also expected that as the number of workers and visitors increases, consumption and demand for services in Yangju will also grow. Business activity in the area by logistics and distribution companies and partner firms is also expected to expand. Once the Yangju Hub Center is completed, the company plans to expand product supply capability centered on Seoul, northern Gyeonggi and northern Gangwon, and strengthen its integrated online and offline logistics system.

Asung Daiso Chairman Park Jeong-bu (박정부) said, "We are breaking ground on the Yangju Hub Center, our fourth logistics center, to build a foundation that can support Asung Daiso’s continued business expansion." He said, "We will strive to hire local talent and pursue win-win cooperation with local companies so that the Yangju Hub Center can grow together with the local community."
